Before you rush out to the Ukraine Embassy near you for a visa, there are some things that you need to know. Ukraine has its own Visa policies, requirements, methods of payments, etc. In order to apply for a Visa, you must be sure why you are applying for the visa. Is it for a long term purpose or a short term purpose? Are you travelling for tourism or business? Are you an eligible Visa Applicant? Holders of the passports of the following countries can enter Ukraine visa-free and stay up to 90 days within a 180 days period.
E-Visa was established in Ukraine in 2018. This is valid for tourism and business purposes.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, there are 3 types of Visa, namely:
This visa applies to foreigners who apply for a temporary residence permit. This is issued as multiple entries and valid for more than 90 days.
A short term visa is issued for foreigners to stay in Ukraine’s territory for up to 90 days. He, she or they can get single/double/multiple entries valid for up to 6 months, within a 5-years term.
This visa applies to foreigners who transit through Ukraine and is valid for not more than 5 days. The individual can have single/double/multiple entries within a maximum validity of 1 year depending on the travel documents.

Important notice for nationals of China
Please note that, according to the Decree of the President of Ukraine of 28th July 2020 no. 295/2020, «On the temporary introduction of the visa-free regime for nationals of the People’s Republic of China visiting Ukraine with a tourist purpose» from 01 August 2020 till 31 January 2021 China nationals are temporarily exempt from visa requirements for entering and staying in Ukraine for up to 30 days within 180 days of getting a visa where the purpose of travel is tourism.

I have been informed that possession of an E-Visa is only one of the prerequisites for entry into the territory of Ukraine. The mere fact that I have been granted an E-Visa does not mean that I am entitled to compensation if I fail (or have failed) to comply with provisions of Ukraine’s legislation and therefore be (or have been) denied entry to Ukraine.
